Midnight Waves

We are getting pretty desperate this summer and couldn’t wait for waves in the morning. We went out and tried to surf with a flashlight sealed up in a diy housing. Between the flashlight and a little ambient light from the city we gave it our best shot. The waves were lacking the size that we needed, but we’ll be on it at dawn and it should be a different story then.

Racine Reef pt.2

This is Just City Life’s second trip to the reef. We found a huge group of carp hanging out on the side of the old lighthouse platform as well as some stacked rocks big enough to swim through. Its crazy to think that someone used to live so far out in the lake. Check it out:

P.S. The seaweed is pretty green here too…

Racine Reef

About 2 miles off the marina in Racine, WI there is a reef that is marked by a lighthouse. The water depth gets really shallow. We’ve talked about it for a few years how rad it would be to surf. It has a lot of potential to be a good spot, but logistically is difficult to get to. Now that we have the Inflatable dinghy, The Meatball, we decided to start exploring it. Here’s a handful of shots of Burton Hathaway and myself freediving the reef and the area around the lighthouse.
